Global Happiness Trends Dashboard

This interactive Tableau dashboard explores global happiness patterns and the factors that influence well-being across countries. The visualization allows users to compare happiness scores, track trends over time, and understand how economic prosperity, social support, health, and freedom contribute to national happiness levels. The dashboard transforms complex World Happiness Report data into clear, interactive insights that help researchers, policymakers, and curious individuals discover what makes countries happy. This project demonstrates how effective data visualization can make important social and economic insights accessible to everyone.

Project Details

Goal & context. This Tableau dashboard turns World Happiness Report data into an interactive view of global well-being, aimed at researchers, educators, and policymakers. The goal was to let users compare countries, track happiness over time, and see how factors like GDP, social support, health, and freedom contribute to national happiness scores.

Data cleaning & preparation. Country-level happiness scores and socio-economic indicators were loaded and checked for missing or inconsistent values; country and year dimensions were standardized so filters and time trends would work correctly. The dataset was structured so that each row represented a consistent unit (e.g., country-year) suitable for aggregation and filtering in Tableau.

Data structure & calculations. Dimensions (country, region, year) and measures (happiness score, factor scores) were organized so that trend and comparison logic could be built in Tableau. Calculated fields were used where needed for KPIs, rankings, and conditional formatting. The structure supports both map-based and chart-based views without duplication of logic.

Visualization & dashboard design. The dashboard combines a global map (happiness by country), trend lines over time, and views that break down contributing factors (e.g., scatter plots, bar charts). A consistent color scale and clear labels help users read the story quickly. Interactive filters and tooltips allow drill-down by country, region, and year. Layout and hierarchy were designed so that the main message is visible at a glance, with detail available on interaction.

Outcome. The result is a polished, interactive Tableau dashboard that communicates global happiness trends and drivers effectively, supporting data-driven discussion and education without requiring prior analytical experience.
